NANTICOKE - Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne) has announced that 30 fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in the local area have been awarded a total of $428,590.62 in grant funding. These grants will provide much-needed support to the dedicated first responders who work tirelessly to protect lives and property in our communities.

"I’m thankful so many local fire and EMS companies were awarded these highly competitive funds," said Ryncavage. "Our dedicated first responders do an amazing job protecting lives and property in our communities, and these grants will help our brave first responders with their critically important and dangerous jobs."

The following local organizations have received grants and the corresponding amounts:

- Rescue Hose Company No. 1 - $13,839.63.

- Edwardsville

- Franklin Hose Company No. 2 - $13,645.11.

- Woodward Hill Hose Company No. 4 - $14,034.16.

- Glen Lyon

- Glen Lyon Alden Volunteer Hose Company - $26,645.11.

- Hanover Township

- Breslau Hose Company No. 5 - $14,034.16.

- Franklin Hose Company No. 4 - $13,645.11.

- Goodwill Hose Company No. 1 - $13,256.07.

- Hanover Township Community Ambulance Association, Inc. - $15,000.

- Hanover Township Fire Department - $16,173.90.

- Newtown Fire Company No. 2 - $13,450.59.

- Larksville

- Larksville Community Ambulance - $13,061.55.

- Larksville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 - $13,061.55.

- Mountain Top

- Pioneer Hook & Ladder - $14,617.72.

- Stickney Fire Co. #1 - $13,061.55.

- Washington Fire Company No. 5 - $13,061.55.

- Plymouth

- Goodwill Hose Company No. 2 - $14,228.68.

- Plymouth Borough Ambulance Association, Inc. - $15,000.

- Plymouth Borough Fire Company - $ 13,450.59.

- Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 - $13,645.11.

- Warrior Run

- Askam Fire Company No. 6 - $13,645.11.

- Warrior Run Volunteer Fire Company - $13,061.55.

These grants will support various projects and programs, including facility upgrades, equipment purchases, debt reduction, training and certification, education and public outreach, and recruitment and retention efforts. Fire companies were also able to apply for construction savings accounts for new facility construction.

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency administers this program, with the application process being handled through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the OSFC.

The grant funding will undoubtedly strengthen the capabilities of these local fire and EMS companies, enabling them to better serve and protect their communities. Rep. Alec Ryncavage is dedicated to supporting the important work of first responders and ensuring they have the resources they need to carry out their critical and dangerous jobs.
